Finance / Accounting Graduate - Controls Assistant (Intern)

Shirley, West Midlands, UK

Duration: 12 month Fixed Term contract

Remote working initially

My high profile client are currently recruiting for an ambitious Finance or accounting graduate to join their team based in Shirley and be part of their Controls team. The candidate should have good computer skills including competent using word, excel and ideally powerpoint.

Hours of work: (37hrs p/w = 8 - 16:45 Monday to Thursday & 8- 12 Friday)

Brief Description of Key Job Requirements:

  • Support Internal controller with completion of all SOX (Sarbanes Oxley, SOX) deliverables timely and accurately (gap assessment, risk assessment, SOX testing, issue tracking and maintenance) ;
  • Adherence to the business critical internal control framework (Sarbanes Oxley, SOX)
  • Add value to the organization by ensuring that internal control processes are carried out efficiently and effectively.
  • Support access rights for systems (eg, SAP) to ensure the systems access is free from segregation of duties violations and monitor periodically;
  • Support with the Accounting and Control Assessments from Regional HQ along with Internal Audit from RTX Corporate and annual audit from our third party auditors to ensure each assessment is completed timely with all information delivered and resulting actions completed timely;
  • Support any internal control projects to ensure key milestones are delivered and communication to all stakeholders is relevant and timely;
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement activities in your area to ensure all non-value added activities are eliminated to enable process optimization;
  • Other ad-hoc tasks that will be required within the remit of your role.

Microsoft Office (eg, Outlook, Excel, Visio, Powerpoint)

Additional Information:

  • Studying towards or graduated in a finance qualification or degree (AAT or equivalent)
  • Exceptional organizational skills are required to ensure key milestones are met within tight deadlines;
  • Ability to communicate effectively to all levels of the organisation
  • Proactive approach to work is critical in this role;
  • Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative is essential;
  • Strong skillset in Microsoft applications including; Excel, Powerpoint and Word
