I am delighted to be working with a Legal client who are seeking a fee earning EL/PL Paralegal to join their department in Newcastle. The company has a fantastic reputation with a client centric approach.


25k - 30k

Bonus Structure:

Very competitve and in line with industry standards.

Daily Responsibilities:

  • Liaising with medical and other experts
  • Reviewing files and reporting regularly to clients, referrers, team leaders or others
  • Liaising with medical and other experts
  • Assessing the merits of cases in light of denials of liability and gathering evidence, both documentary and witness, to rebut denials and pursue meritorious cases to settlement by negotiation or through litigation
  • Liaising and negotiating with insurers, solicitors, courts, Counsel and other agencies
  • Valuing claims for Pain Suffering and Loss of Amenity.
  • Identifying, gathering evidence in support of and valuing other heads of damage, including loss of earnings, care and assistance and Smith v Manchester damages
  • Completing Schedules of Special Damages.
  • Issuing proceedings and proceeding through litigation to settlement or Trial
  • Preparing cases for Trial including preparing Briefs to Counsel
  • Reporting to team leader any difficulties or delays on files
  • Attending team meetings
  • Providing statistics in relation to files handled upon request
  • Dealing promptly with telephone enquiries from clients, referrers and others
  • Assisting other team members as necessary
  • To carry out such other duties as might reasonably be requested by the Partner

Desirable Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to manage multiple tasks or caseloads
  • Good attention to detail to be able to carefully analyse files and data
  • Legal research skills and the desire to develop your understanding of the law
  • The ability to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Office administrative skills for tasks such as filing, typing and letter writing
  • Good teamwork skills particularly when working with other departments to complete your tasks
  • Flexibility and adaptability in your attitude and approach to work
  • A flexible and adaptable approach to your work
  • Business acumen and an understanding of the clients' needs
  • Professionalism when working with colleagues, senior partners, experts and clients
  • Legal database certifications, such as LexisNexis or Westlaw, are very useful
  • Additional language skills - not essential but are an advantage.


  • Although there are no fixed entry requirements, good GCSE and A-level grades will be preferrable for the client.
