IT Infrastructure Team Leader

Are you a Senior Infrastructure Engineer who is interested in a new challenge? Perhaps you are a Team Leader who would like to try a new environment?

The ideal Infrastructure Team Leader will be hands-on and have a bias towards network knowledge, especially around Cisco. However, this isn't all - you will have a wider knowledge as well regarding servers and associated cloud technologies. However, Network experience is what we are mainly after.

Job Summary

Responsible for the reliable day-to-day operation and availability of the organisation's core systems, servers, networking, storage, and associated applications. This includes overall responsibility for the monitoring and scheduled or Adhoc maintenance of all core systems and services.

Provide responsive, effective, and reliable support to aid in the resolution of service desk incidents and critical events.

Responsibilities

*Lead and manage the combined server and networking engineering teams in building a strong and robust infrastructure that incorporates modern on-premises technologies and cloud architectures
*Work closely with the Head of IT and Digital Architect to deploy and manage existing or new systems and services, using innovative new solutions to support the Trust objectives where possible
*Leverage and promote cloud technologies wherever possible with the goal of building a flexible infrastructure that incorporates hybrid cloud architectures
*Responsible for being subject matter expert for the core infrastructure as a whole and maintain the overall integrity of the servers, networking, backup, and security elements
*Responsible for testing and reporting our ability to recover the infrastructure in the event of disaster recovery scenarios and the general availability of the core IT services delivered across the business
*Assist in the design and implementation of business and internal technology solutions through to operational handover, ensuring appropriate documentation and SOPs are in place for BAU
*Pro-actively develop effective working relationships with stakeholders around the business, understanding their IT needs and offer advice and solutions to problems whilst maintaining standards and security of the Trust's systems
*Assist in building and enforcing strong change control process for infrastructure components and systems utilizing IT's change management processes, ensuring all activities are properly assessed and planned to meet strategic objectives
*Continuously seek to make improvements to the core infrastructure, looking for ways to simplify and streamline systems, amending, removing, or building new processes as needed
*Identify tasks that need to be re-allocated to other IT staff or trust departments, helping to manage these transitions appropriately
*Demonstrate strong leadership qualities to the Infrastructure Team in support of common goals such as leading by example and demonstrating innovative and creative ways of working

*Participate in the objective-setting process as part of the annual Performance Development Review/appraisal process, to understand how own role and objectives are linked to the team, directorate, and corporate objectives, to review what aspects of your role are being done well, and to identify any areas for development.
*Undertake relevant activities and mandatory training to meet objectives identified in Personal Development Plan.
*Adhere to all policies and guidelines where appropriate, including HR, Information Governance, Risk Management, and Health & Safety, Data Protection Act


Experience and Skills needed (Some or all of)

*Cisco (ISE, UCS, Prime) - All three ideally, but if you have one or two, please still apply!
*Either VMware VCP/View Administrator or equivalent knowledge acquired by experience OR CCNA/CCNP Certification is preferred or equivalent knowledge acquired by experience
*Working at an Enterprise level of support
*Experience liaising with business stakeholder and multiple vendors
*Experience working with ITIL best practice framework and/or resource/incident/change management based working environment
*In-depth understanding of Microsoft Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Registry Editing, Group Policy, and Windows client platforms
*Strong understanding of TCP/IP and networking technologies and methodologies, IPSEC and SSL VPNs, firewall concepts
*Extensive knowledge of Operating System and Applications deployment methodologies and systems such as SSCM including application packaging, scripted installs, and PowerShell
