As a result, we are looking to recruit a Senior ICT Engineer (equipment supply) on a 24-month Fixed Term Contract to work within the Information and Communications Technology Department.
The Information and Communications Technology Department (ICT) has primary responsibility for service technical infrastructure and support. ICT has staff at a number of locations throughout the Organisation. The key functions of ICT are to provide and support such systems required by the staff of Public Health England (PHE), and to provide the technical infrastructure to enable all forms of corporate communication, both within the Organisation and between the Organisation and its customers and stakeholders.

To assist in the day to day operational responsibility for the Porton 2nd Line ICT Function supporting PHE's incident response to Covid-19 in both Equipment Supply Team and Contact Tracing Support as delegated and directed by the ICT Area Manager: Porton, Chilton & South West (Equipment Supply Cell Manager).
Main Duties & Responsibilities
*Provide support to and supervision & management of operations to ensure the smooth day to day running of the ICT Equipment Supply Cell, ensuring the adequate provision of support cover during normal PHE working hours.
*Ensure open queries are regularly followed up, and users are regularly updated with solutions.
*Provide technical and administrative support for equipment and systems,
*Record and keep track of stock levels
*Maintain awareness of technical developments in desktop hardware and software with a view to providing advice to the ICT Area Manager
*Ensuring compliance with relevant PHE quality systems, policies, procedures and legislation in the support and administration of systems
*Carry out support and service to all customers during the agreed working hours, including any out of hours working.
*A suitable technical qualification in or more of the following areas:
oMicrosoft operating systems and applications.
oIT hardware, software and network environments.
*A substantial background in IT technical support, with experience of managing technical teams. This is a role that demands knowledge and experience of technologies. Therefore, each candidate must be able to demonstrate qualification and expertise in multiple integral technologies as indicated on the list below:
oUnderstanding of network security principles and practices, data encryption and remote access technologies
oMicrosoft Windows Server technologies
oActive Directory and associated technologies
oMicrosoft Windows server operating systems
oMicrosoft Windows desktop operating systems
oMicrosoft Office 365 administration and support
oDesktop client PC support
*Experience of managing customer service requests, managing these in accordance with agreed service levels and meeting customer satisfaction targets.
*Demonstrable success in building and leading high-performance teams,
*A detailed knowledge of service desk operations and IT systems monitoring and alert tools.
