Database Administrator / DBA / SQL Server / Infrastructure / Permanent / West Midlands

My market leading and award-winning client, known for being a great place to work is looking for a driven Database Administrator to join their growing IT Team.

The Database Administrator will maintain the performance, integrity and security of a relational databases. Planning and development of the databases and troubleshooting database issues.

You will be working remotely for the foreseeable future but would be based out of their Midlands head office in Lichfield, Staffordshire in the long term.

Key Responsibilities:
*Establishment of monitoring processes for database user access and security
*Mapping conceptual design for a planned database and / or its key settings
*Management of the interaction of the database structure / size with the system storage requirements and physical / virtual infrastructure
*Installation and testing new versions of the database management system (SQL Server, Oracle)
*Working closely with IT project managers, architects and developers to ensure high quality new databases (with security archiving, backup and long-term performance in mind)
*Working closely with the IT Infrastructure team, creating knowledgebases and completing cross functional training and support.
*Management change and support of the Live 'business as usual' database architecture
*Management of knowledge documentation, skills training and service capabilities for the Infrastructure team
*Ensure service performance and data growth is monitored and a service development plan in place for each hosted service.
*Contribute to the delivery of the IT strategy

Key Skills and Experience required:
*Experience working in a similar DBA role
*Demonstrable knowledge and experience of SQL
*Ideally you will possess SQL Server Certification (MCDBA, MCSE, MCSA or equivalent)
*A structured approach to work to ensure operational controls are adhered to
*Ability to communicate in a professional and consistent manner to colleagues at all levels
*A willingness to keep up to date with developments in new technology
*An understanding of information legislation, such as the Data Protection Act.
