We have an opening with our client based in Edinburgh for an experienced Mechanical Design engineer to join their organisation on a permanent basis.Candidates with mechatronics experience and also experience of designs for electronics and optic devices are highly desirable.
You will be part of a Research and Development team who are responsible for the development
of the hardware platforms required by the applications, product, test, validation and characterisation teams and by the company's customers.
The team design, develop and document precision mechanical parts and systems as well as
interfacing with suppliers and subcontractors. These designs need to take into consideration the integration of the optical and electronic requirements and the usage environment
eg if it's for development, manufacturing or demonstration purposes.
Key Skills
Ability to convert abstract ideas and concepts into reality.
High precision mechanical design using Solidworks CAD
Experience with Solidworks PDM
Generation and revision control of detailed Manufacturing Drawings
Generation and control of manufacturing documentation (specifications, assembly instructions,
user manuals etc.)
Practical knowledge of fabrication
Good communication skills with both internal and external entities
Additional Skills
Experience of thermal modelling in SolidWorks
Experience in enclosure design for optics and electronics
Familiar with Autocad
Experience in motion control systems design, particularly in the handling of very small components
