A leading insurance organisation based in Surrey is currently recruiting for a Software Vendor & Licensing Manager who will have full accountability of all software assets and ensuring compliance with licensing contracts. This role would suit a strong candidate with good software licensing background or even having worked within a software licensing consultancy. The successful Software Vendor & Licensing Manager will be involved in effective audit and reports for new and existing technologies whilst assisting development team to optimize software licensing costs. Lastly, the hire will have prior experience of understanding the overall IT budget and its cost drivers, alongside optimizing spend, and tracking the benefits.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
*Manages all software assets, providing effective audit and reporting for existing and new technologies, including those hosted in the cloud, or those that are SaaS and/or PaaS solutions.
*Provides expertise to development teams and Solution Architects in designing and deploying their applications so that software licensing costs are optimal.
*Works closely with Procurement team - providing subject matter expertise to enable effective negotiations to take place. Participates in negotiations where appropriate.
*Works collaboratively with stakeholders IT, Finance and Procurement to fully understand the overall IT budget and its cost drivers.
*Carries out market research to find all relevant information related to IT spend categories, to identify opportunities to optimize spend opportunities and deliver cost savings back to the business.
*Works with IT leadership to challenge and influence business stakeholders and budget owners for the business rationale and specifications of required goods and services.
*Carries out financial analysis and cost models (i.e., supplier capital projects, ROI, NPV, financial status, make vs. buy, lease vs. buy, etc.), to support transformative projects.
*Working with IT leadership and peers in Service Delivery, establishes and maintains relationships with software vendors and distributors, service providers, and other IT suppliers.
*Works with peers in Service Delivery, and IT, to own and drive vendor review meetings covering performance, service improvements, quality, and processes.
*Bachelors degree in computer science (or relevant technical experience) desirable
*Strong experience in the IT Field
*Experienced Software Asset Management professional
*Experienced in software spend optimisation
*Strong understanding of data center and application infrastructure and how it relates to metrics from vendors such as Microsoft, Oracle, IBM and other tier 1 software vendors
*Experience in working alongside Procurement functions and participating in negotiations
*Experience of managing vendors, 3rd parties and 3rd party delivered services
*Detailed understanding of the service construct and critical metrics (SLAs, KPIs, etc.) to evaluate and review service performance and technical information provided by the service suppliers
*Uses strong technical background and understanding to present and discuss technical information in a way that establishes rapport and sustains credibility with IT
*Strong financial background, able to provide detailed financial analysis cost modelling
