This is a permanent position based in Hillington, Glasgow.
Ideal candidates will have experience working in the web development industry and be able to demonstrate knowledge of all aspects of commercial website design. This includes working with designers to produce and install front end assets and developing backend scripts to provide solutions to challenging problems.
They should be familiar with aspects of the web development process not directly related to programming including: Web marketing, SEO and PPC; Content creation; Servers and DNS; IT support; client management etc. They will be working as part of an established web development team in a busy digital agency and should understand the function of other industry roles.
They will be expected to work directly with clients to identify their needs and provide web related solutions at cost and on time. They will build positive ongoing relationships with clients, providing excellent customer service and always being on hand to provide support, advice or additional training.
The candidate should be confident and comfortable meeting with and presenting to high level stakeholders across all industry sectors. They should be ready to learn about business and their customers in order to assure our clients that they are in safe hands.
The candidate will have a strong working knowledge of programming in a LAMP environment and will be able demonstrate advanced ability in the following technologies:
PHP 7.x (experience with legacy versions down to 5.6 would be useful)
HTML & CSS
The candidate will have experience in using, installing and configuring shopping cart software eg. CS Cart, Magento, Shopify, WooCommerce, or similar. Experience with CS Cart is preferable.
The candidate will also be able to demonstrate experience with CMS systems such as Wordpress.
The candidate will be able to build websites sites using a combination of languages with no pre-existing framework, installing 3rd party assets and libraries as required. They will not be bound by a specific framework, set of tools or style of programming. They should be able to adapt as appropriate for the task at hand.
Candidate will be able to demonstrate familiarity the following:
The use of IDEs as their primary development tool
Procedural and object-oriented programming styles
PDO, for database interaction.
Libraries and how to install and update them (preferably using Composer)
APIs and how to use them
Common security concerns, how to test for them and minimise risk.
Reading documentation and seeking solutions to programming related challenges.
Candidate would preferably have knowledge of the following:
Responsive design methods
AJAX (including post and get jQuery functions)
CSS frameworks such as bootstrap
MVC style frameworks
Structured testing methods
Version Control (git)
