Network & Security Specialist - CCNA, Cisco, Checkpoint

Spring Technology are currently working in partnership with a leading FTSE 250 client to recruit an experienced Network & Security Specialist to provide first class 3rd line, ITIL aligned support and project work while also helping shape strategy for out client.

The Role
Reporting to the Infrastructure Manager, the Principal Specialist - Network & Security is responsible for the provision of technical design, implementation and support in line with business needs, departmental and group objectives and provides both the technical leadership and accountability for the overall success of an engagement's technical team's efforts including architecture, design, development, testing, and deployment for the business solution.

The Responsibilities
*Leadership of a small team of network engineers
*Design and implement new solutions and improve resilience of the current environment
*Maximise network performance by monitoring performance, troubleshooting network problems and outages, scheduling upgrades and collaborating with network architects on network optimisation
*Undertake data network fault investigations in local and wide area environments using information from multiple sources
*Secure network systems by establishing and enforcing policies, and defining and monitoring access
*Support and administer firewall environments in line with IT security policy
*Report network operational status by gathering and prioritizing information and managing projects
*Upgrade data network equipment to the latest stable firmware releases
*Configure routing and switching equipment, hosted IP voice services and firewalls
*Provide remote support to on-site engineers, third parties and end users/customers during installation
*Provide remote troubleshooting and fault finding if issues occur upon initial installation
*Undertake capacity management and audit of IP addressing and hosted devices within data centres
*Delivery of 3rd line operational support for IT services including on-call cover for our 24/7 business
*Plan and execute changes in accordance with Service Delivery Management and Change Management policies and processes
*Documenting procedures, processes and high and low level designs
*Supports the development of technical Design Authority to Define and deliver appropriate enterprise level technical strategies, processes and solutions in line with industry, division and group standards.

The Requirements
*SDWAN and WIFI management (Cisco Meraki Stack knowledge highly desirable)
*Edge and Branch Cisco devices, namely Cisco ISR (IOS) - knowledge of OSPF, HSRP, BGP, CoPP, VRF, VLANs, ACLs, STP, VTP
*Checkpoint Firewall management experience i.e. VPN, upgrades and maintenance
*Experience in delivering Network Security technology support or project delivery, with experience in Firewalls and ideally threat and vulnerability assessment
*Web Proxy (Zscaler desirable)
*VOIP solutions such as Storm
*Industry certifications such as Cisco (CCNA, CCNP)
*Cloud networking experience such as Azure/AWS desirable
*Monitoring tools. E.g. Solarwinds.
