Role summary
A key contributor to the generation of Verification test evidence demonstrating compliance to our customer requirements. The Development Engineer is responsible for setting up and carrying out Development and Qualification testing in accordance with approved test procedures. All equipment used shall be suitable for the application, correctly calibrated and safe. Ability to follow test procedures explicitly, record and analyse data is a key function of the role.

Working within a multi-disciplined team the Development Engineer must be pro-active, resourceful, dedicated to meeting programme commitments and be able to work in shifts (days or nights as required).
Principle Accountabilities
*Working in a safe manner, adherence to Engineering Process and Standard Work
*Build of Engineering units, mounting to and operation of Production Test Rigs.
*Performing Functional / Acceptance tests on Engineering units.
*Test rig support and test rig acceptance/commissioning activities. Build and dry running of Qualification test set ups
*Operation of Engineering Qualification test rigs (Unit and System)
*Correct interpretation of test parameters and requirements.
*Performing Qualification Tests where required, monitoring and recording of test data.
*Keeping accurate test records, analysis of results vs. requirements and problem solving of deviations.
*Management of off-site testing including transportation, assembly and commissioning of all necessary support equipment.
*Generation and issue of Qualification / Development documentation.
*Management of post test inspection requirements for Engineering hardware.
*Assisting with resolution of verification/validation technical issues.

Basic Qualifications
*Good appreciation of EH & S requirements in the workplace
*ONC / HNC qualified in mechanical or electrical engineering
*Computer literate; familiar with general PC software (e.g. Windows, MS Office) and data analysis Tool (DIAdem).
*Good practical knowledge and understanding of hydro-mechanical engineering principles.
*Knowledge of electrical, electro-mechanical and electronics would be beneficial.
*Proven capability in development and qualification testing (Unit and System).
*Proven capability of technical problem resolution and ability in understanding aerospace test specifications.
*Proven ability to define engineering test fixtures and instrumentation required to successfully perform Qualification tests.
*Proven ability to work with liquid nitrogen
*Operates with the highest level of personal integrity.
*Flexible approach with willingness to work as part of a multi-disciplined team
*Calm under pressure and responsive to change
*Good oral and written communication skills.
*Dynamic, resourceful and able to work using own initiative
