I am currently supporting a public research university in Guildford. The university specialises in science, engineering, medicine and business, whom are recruiting for a PMO Manager
This post is a fixed term contract until Feb 2020 to cover maternity.
To lead the IT Services PMO which manages the portfolio of IT projects across the University and the project approval and lifecycle processes.
*Provide leadership and day-to-day operational support for the IT Services PMO. Working with the PMO Officer, ensure that each project follows the agreed process and has the correct data recorded and maintained. Proactively engage with Project Managers based within IT Services and within other areas of the University engaged in IT-related project work to uphold the standards agreed and to ensure that project records are updated to the required standard and timescales.
*Be familiar with the overall IT project portfolio and able to obtain and summarise high level resource information for each project to allow resource planning and project scheduling and to inform decisions e.g. the impact of approving new projects on the delivery timescales of existing projects.
*Provide standard and ad hoc reports and analysis on the IT project portfolio and individual projects as needed for portfolio and project governance groups and ensure that they are of appropriate quality, include any briefing notes required to highlight specific issues for the attendees and are distributed in accordance with agreed deadlines.
*Provide help to those using the process, including advice on the content of the project documents needed, and champion the use of these standards for all IT-related projects.
*Support the Head of IT Project Management in continual improving the project management processes, tools and templates.
*Professionally qualified with a relevant degree/postgraduate qualification, plus several years' broad management experience in similar or related roles
*Substantial vocational and relevant management experience demonstrating management ability in an appropriate professional or specialist area, and success in similar or related roles, supported by evidence of significant appropriate specialist knowledge
*Direct and indirect management experience, with the ability to influence and persuade others to follow agreed processes.
*Proven ability to build excellent, positive working relationships with colleagues across other disciplines.
*Highly developed knowledge of the principles and practice of own work with awareness of the broader developments relevant to own area.
*Experience of working in a PMO performing similar duties
*Excellent IT skills especially in the use of Microsoft Excel to analyse and present data
