To provide timely and appropriate housing advice and support to vulnerable households in order to prevent and/or alleviate homelessness and where necessary be responsible for the investigation of homelessness applications in accordance with legislation and guidance.
The post will occasionally be required to work outside normal office hours i.e. evenings and weekends.
1.To ensure that clients who approach the Homelessness Service receive appropriate advice and support in order to prevent/alleviate homelessness.
2.To assist the Housing Service Team Leader in the development of strategies and schemes to prevent homelessness and to implement good practice.
3.To maintain appropriate statistical, financial and administrative records relating to homelessness prevention.
4.To assist the Housing Service Team Leader in the analysis of data associated with homelessness and its prevention.
5.To provide promotional advice and education to specific client groups at risk of homelessness.
6.Where necessary, to carry out home visits to clients that are at risk of homelessness in order to assess circumstances and provide appropriate advice, through the delivery of a flexible hours homelessness prevention service
