Higher Education Administrator
Salary: £15.46 per hour
Temporary: 3 months initially
Start date: 18th Jan 17
Full time: 35 hours per week
We are currently recruiting on behalf of one of Central London's most prestigious and highly ranked Universities for a skilled Administrator to assist within the South Asia Centre among other centres within the Institute of Global Affairs. The successful candidate must have administrative experience within the Higher Education sector.
*To be responsible for the overall administrative management of the Centre, and to ensure full administrative support for the academic and outreach functions of the Centre.
*To act as the central point of contact for all enquiries relating to the Centre.
*To collaborate with internal and external individuals/departments/institutions to organise and promote a wide range of events (including high-profile events involving established protocol) both within and outside the School.
*To facilitate the development of links with individuals, organisations and institutions in all countries of South Asia.
*To develop web content at short notice and update the Centre's website to ensure maximum impact via the web
*To be able to source visuals and illustrations for the website in accordance with established copyright practices.
*To actively promote the Centre via all forms of social media including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and others that may be considered necessary by the Director and Deputy Director at any time.
*To work as part of a team with administrators of other Centres within the Institute of Global Affairs to develop standard procedures alongside the specific needs of the Centre, and share best practice.
*To collaborate with the relevant parts of the School's professional divisions to ensure that the Centre coordinates activities with the School's internationalization strategy.
Communication & Networking
*To act as the central point of contact for all enquiries (internal and external) relating to the Centre.
*To establish and maintain effective working relationships with a wide range of external and internal stakeholders.
*Build, maintain and develop external and internal networks of contacts.
*Communicate complex information to staff and visitors at the Centre in a professional manner.
*Assist staff at the Centre in the production of reports, publicity and marketing materials and other written documents in a clear and concise manner.
*Collaborate with designers and printers for the preparation, finalisation and publication of print materials within deadlines, for a variety of audiences and stakeholders.
*Ensure that web and social media content is accurate, error-free and always up-to-date.
Decision-making, Planning and Problem-solving
*Responsible for the organising, scheduling and publicising all events of the Centre, including evening events
*Organise, supervise, train and ensure remuneration according to College regulations for student ambassadors for events of the Centre as and when required
*Overall management of the Institute financial and other resources to ensure financial soundness, including managing all budgets.
*Review and plan the strategic development of administrative systems at the Centre, ensuring fitness for purpose and compliance with College policies and procedures
*To handle and resolve less routine issues and problems that may arise in connection with the Centre's activities
